Board of Adjustment

Members hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of 76-2-2 M.C.A. of any zoning resolution adopted pursuant thereto; to hear and decide special exceptions to zoning resolutions; to authorize variances from zoning resolutions that are not contrary to the public interest and where, owing to special conditions, a literal enforcement of the provisions of the resolution will result in unnecessary hardship and so that the spirit of the resolution shall be observed and substantial justice is done.

Volunteer Positions

Volunteers must reside in the area over which this board has jurisdiction. If you have questions about the area of jurisdiction or vacancies for the Board of Adjustment, please check with Lake County Planning Department. This board may have up to 2 alternate members. Terms begin on January 1. Positions are open until filled. Please submit a letter of interest and a completed application to Lake County Planning if interested.

BOA Application Submittal Dates

In order to meet public notice requirements, a complete application must be submitted at least 28 days in advance of a particular Board of Adjustment meeting in order to be placed on the agenda.
