In Lake County we have House Districts 9, 11, 12 and 15 and Senate Districts 5, 6 and 8.

I Voted!Provisional Voting

Allows individuals to vote using provisional ballots if they forget their identification or are not listed in the register. The voter has until 5:00 P.M. the day after the election to resolve identity and/or voter registration issues. If the issues are resolved, the ballot would be counted. If the issues are not resolved by 5:00 P.M. that next day, the ballot would not be counted.

Voting Qualifications

U. S. citizens may become voters for national, state, and local elections if they meet the following requirements:

 • Citizen of the United States.
 • Eighteen years old or older at the time of election.
 • Resident of the state, county, and precinct for at least thirty days prior to the election.
 • Registered to vote.

***Persons serving a sentence in a penal institution for a felony and persons determined to be of unsound mind by a court may not vote.

Common Questions Answered

Districts required to hold annual elections - School Districts, Fire Districts and Irrigation Districts - are on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May.

Federal, State and County hold elections in even numbered years - Primary on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June. The General is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

Municipal, Water and Sewer District elections are held in odd years. If a Primary is required for the Municipal election it is held on the Tuesday following the second Monday in September, with the General held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

Voter Registration closes 30 days before all elections. Polling place hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. except for School elections. School districts set the hour the polls open which must be before noon and they remain open until 8 p.m..

Electors can request absentee ballots starting 75 days before an election and up until noon the day before the election. Electors may also come in and vote in the election office once ballots are available - 30 to 45 days before Federal, State and County elections and 20 days before School, Fire, Irrigation, Municipal, Water and Sewer District elections.
